Spain is different

...

Today, more than ever since I am in Oslo, I felt this feeling. Spain is different. And, unless I would not like to say it, this "different" today has no possitive connotations.
It's only when you've left your city, your country and your social environment when you realize what you have and what you lack of. One of the reasons why I achieved this Erasmus was my "good English level". And when I arrived and began a conversation with any of the erasmus students, I wondered if I had ruined so many years learning this language with not so good results.
From Spain, probably people will think that I am exagerating, but each day I am more possitive about that our education system is not working at all. Or may, ours is a society that has not succumbed to the "americanization" and in our aim of maintaining the Spanish identity we don't broadcast, for instance, any series or film in their original version.
Finally, my professor Robert Vaagan increased my pessimism provig how invisible Spain is for the rest of Europe. "Wikileaks found the support of 5 important newspapers of different countries to spread the information". He remembered all, except El País (http://www.elpais.com/).

Una semana después... /One week later...

The Erasmus started only 8 days ago, but now I can make an assessment. And it is definitely possitive. Because in spite of being so far away (2.800 km or a four hours trip by plane) I still don't miss what I left in Spain. The fact of talking with them almost every day and of having found great people here, makes everything easier.

And tonight, we continue the european typical meals tasting... Destiny: Greek! Ionna and Christina will prepare us a mediterranean flavoured dinner, Bon appetit!

Primeras salidas ERASMUS

The Netherlands and Italian girls and me, in the way to Grünerlokka.

We're now just like an ordinary Oslo citizen. On wednesday, me and the Erasmus girls went sightseeing. We visited the most representative monuments: Royal Palace, Theatre, Parliament, the old University and the city centre (but we didn't go to the Oppera House). Moreover, we walked through Grünerlolla, a neighbourhood where we found a cosy cafe. I'm sure I'll go back there whith all those who visit me.

My Erasmus mates at Web Publishing and Architecture and Information and Communication Theory and I met in order to discover this city of frozen beauty. In the evening, we prepared an italian-spanish dinner for all of us, with spanish omelettes and pasta at St. Hanshaugen. We had a really good time sharing different experiences and the particularities of our countries, Spain, Italy and Holladn, and we began to know each other.

Ayer jueves, hubo otro encuentro. ;)

Yesterday, we had another meeting. This time, with the spanish and french people from then 7th and 13th floor in our student house. I guess the university world is not so different thousands of km away, young people go out and have fun every thursday! ;)

However, Laura Sabater (http://livinginoslo.blogspot.com) and I preserved our forces for tomorrow nigh. The appointment will be with all the erasmus students that we'll meet at the information day for all the Erasmus students. The perfect excuse to keep on enjoying this vital experience.

Erasmus life has already started. Laura Sabater and I landed in Oslo last saturday 7th january, after a night without sleeping one hour at El Prat airport in Barcelona, and the uncertainty that comes with the beginning of a new life. Our 'study buddys', Jorgen and Marij were there waiting for us, so everything was easier. By their car we arrived to Oslo city and we ate pizza at the best restaurant. But we had to go to the student house and buy everything which is neccesary to start a new life.

St. Hanshaugen is since the our home. But we share it with many students from different countries. At the moment we have met people from Spain, Netherlands, Norway, India, Nicaragua...A mixture of cultures with a challenge: living together. Until today everything is alright and little by little we are getting to know our new neighbours.

Today, 10th january, has been our first day at University. And I must say that I have been positively surprised. The building is really new, everything (like doors and the entrance) is computerized and really well organized... I guess that in such a simple thing we can perceive the differences between the Spanish and the Norwegian way of life. And talking about the courses, I think that I will learn a lot and i'm going to improve my English. The contents of both subjects seem to be very interesting and the professors are really competent. So I will enjoy the situation and take benefit from it!

This is the summary of my first erasmus days, I will give you more news! :)

10 días a.E.

______

The beginning of the "change of life" is only 10 days far. And today, I feel more positive about everything than in my previous post. After a very long and hard day of preparations with Laura Sabater (http://livinginoslo.blogspot.com/), my mate and friend who will be definitely my other half during the following six months, I strongly believe that we are ready for our Erasmus experience.

With a norwegian conversation guide in our poquets, the train ticket that will bring us to Barcelona and the assurance that our study buddy's will be waiting for us at the airport, I feel much more calm. Moreover, my wardrobe is full of jumpers and thermal underwear clothes, so I'm sure I will survive to the Norgewian freezing climate!

----
In 13 days time I will start my Erasmus, in Oslo. But I still have too many things to do. Luggage, online check-in, buy a norwegian dictionary and enjoy my village, my family and my friends.

Untill 7th january, I'll experience lots of goodbyes... and maybe, this is the worst part of the Erasmus. But this is the magic of the experience: it is made of all that moments, the good and the bad ones, smiles and tears.

I write this blog in order that in ten years time, all that moments aren't forgotten. Because our memory is cheaty, and it would probably lose lots of details... And also, in order that everyone who thinks about me, could know everything that happens each day during my Erasmys Life.
